Meet Geoff

Geoff Baker grew up in Como before his family moved to the suburb of South Perth when he was a teenager. He's walked, biked or driven along pretty much every street in the electorate since.

In March 2021, Geoff was elected as a Member of the WA Parliament to serve the people of the electorate of South Perth. The electorate includes the suburbs of South Perth, Como, Karawara, Manning, Salter Point, Waterford and most of Kensington.

Shortly after his election, Geoff was appointed Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation, which reviews delegated legislation on behalf of Parliament.

He also quickly established himself as the co-convener of the Parliamentary Friends of Clean Energy.

Geoff’s political experience, skills, belief in the WA Labor government and his knowledge and connection with South Perth give him a mastery over others when it comes to dealing with his constituents as well as local and state-wide issues.

South Perth is a community Geoff loves. It’s where he learned to walk, ride a bike, and drive a car. His grandparents Dudley and Nell Baker were dentists who used to own a practice on Angelo Street.

Geoff says his position is a privilege. That everyday is an opportunity to do something for someone in South Perth. He has high aspirations for improving public schools and hospitals and nurturing and sharing WA’s natural resources.

Geoff’s daughters are his biggest source of inspiration and are behind his dedication to be part of a good government that lives within its means, makes good decisions, doesn’t hand debt to the next generation and lays down a solid path to running on reliable and clean energy.

His attitude towards his role as the local Member is to be a proper representative of the community and he does this by first and foremost being the best father, he can be and by making himself accessible to hear the personal dreams, tragedies, financial dire straits, hopes and desires of the South Perth community.
