NAIDOC Week is a great chance to celebrate Indigenous Australians and their culture, and I had a great time celebrating it with our community which included students from Como Secondary College.

After those students showed us their new sand mural, we were treated to food featuring Aussie ingredients. The kangaroo burgers were delicious and wattle-seed gave the students’ muffins a real kick.

The City of South Perth also ran some fantastic events, which I attended alongside Mayor Greg Milner and new Federal Member for Swan Zaneta Mascarenhas.

In addition to the formal flag raising ceremony, there was school holiday painting of the giant KAYA letters as seen in the pic above.
